The Consortium is fighting hard to protect original Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. Soon it will start a communication campaign that aims at bringing the authentic product on the market and this project will have a really high available budget.

The Consortium fight The Consortium’s Director, Federico Desimoni, stated that the fight is still quite far from being won. However there were some successful events, such as the exclusion from the markets of those products that were labelled with the word “balsamic”, without having the right elements to be considered such, nor any certification. As a consequence, there will be verdicts within 2018 for these products that are not authorized to have the word “balsamic” on their labels.

What about foreign markets? Not long ago, the Consortium closed two cases in France and in England for the improper use of respectively “vinagre balsamique” and “balsamic vinegar”. For what concerns Extra-Ue countries, it is used the method of the consortium brand. In the United States, for instance, the consortium brand was registered and the safeguard of IGP balsamic vinegar is led by communication activities.

Exactly for this reason, in the following 3 years the Consortium will invest more than 1 million euros in a communication campaign that aims at making the consumers aware of what the actual Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is.

The Consortium fight of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is just at the beginning, but it also has what it takes to win and to let people know that authentic balsamic vinegar is totally different from what sometimes may be labelled as balsamic. Long story short: beware of imitations and take exclusively into account the one and only certified Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena!
