The black gold of Modena is in fact more and more often the protagonist of promotional activities overseas, thanks to the project “Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, The Original”. The project is financed by the European Union and started two years ago, with the aim of add value to the product and improve its competitiveness in the United States.
This huge promotional campaign engaged the best chefs of the United States who are committed to use the precious condiment in dishes that could enhance its characteristics and also evoke its millennial history. The project included also the top food bloggers, carefully selected among the best in the United States, in order to reach as much consumers as possible.
The last promotional event that saw Original Balsamic Vinegar of Modena P.G.I. protagonist of the American gastronomic scene was the participation from February 19th to 24th at the 18th edition of the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival. The event which took place in Miami, is one of the most important US events for the food sector. The event focused on the most talented wine and distillates producers, on important chefs and other culinary personalities.
In particular, the black gold of Modena was the protagonist of the Barilla’s Italian Bites on the Beach – where over 30 of the greatest American chefs have prepared dishes inspired to different regions of Italy. The product was the protagonist also of the Grand Tasting Village of Goya Foods, the most important event of the festival. This latter event was a great opportunity to taste wine and learn about new trends and products in the beverage sector.

The American dream goes further. Another high level experience that will involve the Consortium for the Protection of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI in the USA is the partnership with the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE), one of the largest and most diverse culinary institutes in the world with over 14,000 students trained over the years and numerous leaders in the catering and hospitality sectors. The partnership with ICE establishes that the Institute’s chefs incorporate black gold into research and recipe development. It also foresees the assignment of scholarships to three students that will have the opportunity to travel to Modena, Italy, to discover the birthplace of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena P.G.I. The partnership will be officially presented in New York, at the ICE headquarters. The presentation will also be an occasion to teach American how to recognize the authentic and certified product.
