Opened Acetaie – 2020 (Modena)

Dear friends, we would like to mark the special date of Sunday the 27th of September. It will be a day dedicated to the Opened Acetate – 2020 (Modena). Those that are from the area of Modena probably already know about this event, but to our friends living outside the province of Modena and Reggio Emilia, we would like to give you more information regarding this happening.

Acetaie: what they are

The Acetaie are the places where the precious Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is produced. To be more precise, in the area of Modena there are more than a hundred of them recognized by the Consortium with a total annual production of
about 100 million litres (not considering private producers).

The event: Opened Acetaie – 2020 (Modena)

The Consortium for the Protection of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO and the Consortium for the Protection of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI organize a day that unites Balsamic lovers every year at the end of September.

During that day, dozens of Acetaie (this year there will be 40 of them – you can check the list here https://www.acetaieaperte.com/acetaie/) will remain open to the public for a whole day.

Visitors can taste the famous Black Gold but also inspect the historical documents of the companies, as well as visit the places of production and ageing, and to ask any desired questions or about any doubts that they have got.

The 2020 edition will be a special one.
While there are health emergency obligations regarding safety and distancing measures in place, the unfolding of the event symbolises trust and rebirth.

The recent lockdown has created some issues within both small and large companies involved in Balsamic Vinegar.

The Opened Acetaie – 2020 (Modena) the main goal of this event is  to convey emotions and sensations that go beyond the food excellence itself through personal involvement. The story of thousands of people who work directly with Balsamic Vinegar will be in the spotlight during this special day entirely dedicated to them.
